EUAM in Ukraine: six years in, still going strong

Six years ago, on 1 December 2014, the EU Advisory Mission Ukraine was launched to support the Ukrainian authorities create a civilian security sector that is efficient, accountable and enjoys the trust of the public.

Since then, the Mission has extended its operational and geographic reach, its approximately 340 staff now delivering projects and training programmes in addition to strategic advice in Kyiv and four field offices across the country. In terms of numbers, 59 draft laws have been developed by the Parliament with EUAM assistance, 27 key strategic documents approved following the Mission’s advice, and more than 15,000 people have benefited from EUAM training programmes.
