Post-traumatic stress management – more important than ever

December 08, 2022

From 05 to 07 December, the EUAM Ukraine arranged a three-day Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS) management training for Ukrainian national security professionals. The training focused on the psychological and neural effects of traumatic experiences consisting of an overview on best practices for recognition, prevention and amelioration of symptoms. Participants gained an understanding of how and why traumatic events impact the brain. Also, they learned how such experiences may impair brain functions. In addition, the trainers raised awareness for the effects of PTS on cognition, behaviour and the importance of treatment. Related to preventing and encountering PTS, the training provided methods for identification, prevention and treatment of trauma-related stress and creating a timeline and concrete steps for creating organizational readiness in employing these methods.
