European Union Advisory Mission delegation on visit to the National Academy of the Internal Affairs

September 18, 2014

On 18 September representatives of the EU Advisory Mission, Head of Operations Peter Appleby, Ian Warrick and Daniel Farrell paid a working visit to the National Academy of Internal Affairs’ training center.

The delegation received a warm welcome from the Head of the Academy Major-General Volodymyr Cherney who said:

“Our institution has been cooperating in different ways with police forces of other countries for a long time. The vivid example of such cooperation is the success of “Euro-2012” with the Police coordination office being at that time located at the Academy.

Coming back to today’s situation, I would like to mention that not only the reform of the security structures is in process, but a new radical approach to the officers’ training is being established as well. This constantly requires conformity with high European model’s standards of education.”

The school officials delivered a wide presentation of the educational programs, followed by a tour of the facilities of the Academy.

They underlined the importance of European best Police practices, to be integrated into the Ukrainian law enforcement agents’ training program.

The visit was concluded with a visit of the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ Museum at the Academy.
