EUAM visited Kherson

A delegation of the European Union Advisory Mission Ukraine (EUAM) visited Kherson to offer support in the reform process. The Regional Outreach team met for the first time the commander of Kherson’s National Guard, Lieutenant Colonel Vadym Matveev, on 23rd July.

Mihai Barbutu stated after the constructive meeting: “The National guard has an important role ensuring public safety and order. We are happy to discover good interagency cooperation and to find willingness for further engagement with our National Guard partners.”

The EUAM representatives also re-visited the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MoIA) main department of Kherson. Its first Deputy, Yurii Gorohovskij, stated that in addition to increase the police response time, thorough investigations are essential to regain the public confidence. Barbutu offer EUAM’s assistance: “EUAM is here to support the reforms on the ground. We are all excited to observe and assist our partner with the implementation of the police reform.”
