Happy Independence Day, Ukraine!

This is the fourth Independence Day that Ukraine marks during the full-scale aggression, and the 11th that Ukrainians have to celebrate in the midst of the Russian attack on its freedom.
We, the EU Advisory Mission Ukraine stand shoulder to shoulder with you and the challenges that you face. We support you in its path towards joining the EU, and we support you in meeting the massive war-time challenges.
Ukraine’s future must be secure and sustainable, it must build on justice that works, security people trust, institutions that serve the people, and good governance that will pivot the country to prosperity.
Ukrainians have chosen to have a future within the European Union. This is why, at EUAM, we will support long-lasting and irreversible reforms.
The war has taken many lives, devastated families, and led to tremendous grief. This is why we must hold those responsible to account.
That is why we support you in investigation and prosecution of the international crimes, training investigators and prosecutors, and also the developing of a victims-centered justice system in Ukraine.
We also help to stabilise war-affected areas. We train frontline officers and psychologists who support victims.
Today, we honour your courage, mourn your losses, and we laud the resolve and resilience that Ukrainians display every single day. We hear the sirens with you. We hear the air raid sirens, and we share those long nights in shelters with you.
We strongly believe that Ukraine will win through in its fight for independence and freedom and in its reform path towards joining the European Union.
We will stand by you for as long as it takes until peace and justice are secured, and you can join our European family in freedom and prosperity.
