Ukrainian police ready to put public-order concept into practice following month-long programme

February 22, 2019

EUAM today completed a month-long training programme in public order policing based on EU best practices (and the Scandinavian model) – a follow-up to the public order concept that was officially adopted in Ukraine last August. Participants in the programme included regional police department commanders, preventive units heads, and platoon commanders from Kyiv city and region, Dnipro, Poltava, and Ternopil. Significantly, professors from National Academy of Internal Affairs also took part, which will help to engrain the reformed approach in Ukraine’s police education system. These images show some of the live exercises and simulations conducted during the programme, with police practising how to manage crowds during mass events.
