Spanish forces to add to Ukrainian police’s public-order know-how


“Supported by the EUAM Public Order team, we have developed a special curriculum for this training to continue supporting NPU with the implementation of the new Public Order Concept adopted in Ukraine.” 
The EU Advisory Mission Ukraine (EUAM) is expanding its activities in the regions by conducting public order basic training in Dnipro, Kharkiv and Odesa. As part of the PRAVO Police project, eight experienced public order trainers arrived in Ukraine in early May and will soon travel to Kharkiv for the first training session for members of the public order units of the National Police of Ukraine (NPU). Fernando Magro Moros, Team Leader of the Public Order Specialized Team, here answers a few questions about the deployment and the upcoming training.

Easy and effective communication between police and youth – EUAM adviser explains

In close cooperation with the Canadian Police Mission, EUAM has developed advanced training to introduce Community Policing into already existing law enforcement bodies. 
‘Effective Communication with youth’ is a part of this curriculum launched in May 2021 with 15 teachers at the Donetsk Law Institute. In this workshop, EUAM Adviser on Community Policing Larissa Rootmensen explains how police should talk to and act with youth to gain respect and trust, establish good relationships and encourage youngsters to behave accordingly. A law-enforcement officer who builds a good relationship with the youth can be a strong and protective figure for them.

26 police commanders go through EUAM Public Order Management training

The 5th EUAM Public Order Management training for Gold, Silver and Bronze police commanders concluded on Friday 28 May with the handing over of certificates by the Deputy Head of the EUAM, Fredrik Wesslau, to graduates. 
Also present at the ceremony were Mr Volodymyr Cherniei, Rector of National Academy of Internal Affairs, Mr Oleksandr Fatsevych, Dep. Head of NPU and Mr Sergii Cherniavsky, Dep Rector of National Academy of Internal Affairs. In total 26 participants were trained, among them 24 NPU commanders  (7 gold; 7 silver; and 10 bronze), and two NAIA teachers.

#EuropeDay2021: A brief history of the European Union

Europe Day is 9 May, but Ukraine celebrates it annually every third Saturday in May. While the usual public events cannot take place this year, Europe Day remains a potent symbol of unity between Ukraine and the rest of Europe – a day of peace, shared values and shared history with all European nations.
