At a recent communications training organised by the EU Advisory Mission (EUAM) Ukraine, the Chief of the National Police of Ukraine, Serhiy Knyazev, underlined the importance of communications to effective police work. In this interview, taken after he addressed the 41 police spokespersons at the training, he explains his vision of police communications and stresses the importance of building trust with the community.

Meet Ilona from Ukraine’s Patrol Police

The sky is the limit for this ambitious EU Advisory Mission (EUAM) partner. Starting out as a regular patrol police officer, within just two years Ilona Havrysh has become a senior inspector in a tactical unit at the police of Ukraine. At 28, she is studying for her third university degree. These are two facts about Ilona – watch the video to find out more.

Odesa training focuses on preventing and combating domestic violence

A training organised in Odesa by the EU Advisory Mission on August 6-10 is focusing on preventing and combating domestic violence. The training brings together police officers, social workers and representatives of civil society to discuss ways to better coordinate efforts, particularly in the wake of recent legislation. A new law ‘On Preventing and Combating Domestic Violence’ strengthens protection for victims. EUAM will hold 10similar training sessions across Ukraine.
